Photography exhibit highlighting works by longtime SRJC staff member Tom Chown from the days of film and darkrooms to his move to digital photography. Tom worked in the photo lab and was photographer for the Summer Repertory Theater and the JC Theater Arts programs. He was also photographer for a myriad of JC events, including student activities, commencements and sports.

Tom Chown began his journey with SRJC in the campus photography lab at the age of 24. Over nearly five decades, his contributions influenced the creative lives of thousands of students in his role as the Art Department’s photographic lab technician. As an official photographer for the college, Chown’s lens captured the very heart of the SRJC
community—ranging from dramatic theater productions and athletic triumphs to specialized academic programs, portraits of campus leadership, and the joyous milestones of annual commencement ceremonies. As the owner of Tom Chown Photography, he spends personal time as a professional photographer for portraiture, weddings, family reunions, and the love of art through photography.
